Why License Keys?

When purchasing a XTENTO extension, you will be usually sent an email containing license keys linked to the domains you've entered when purchasing the extension.

We are using license keys for licensing purposes. The purchased extensions will only work in the Magento installations you've purchased license keys for. Each license key is linked to one domain; the license key will need to be used for the Magento installation running on that specific domain.

Each license key is valid for one Magento installation. One Magento installation is one instance of Magento, including an unlimited amount of websites, stores and store views.

If you do not enter a license key into the extensions configuration section, the module simply won't work and you won't be able to use it.

If you did not receive a license key even though the configuration section of the purchased extensions requires one, please get in touch with us so we can help.

Important: We only care about the domain of your store. You can change the admin URL (part after the slash /, for example /admin or /adminsecret or whatever) as you like. Only if you change the domain, the article "Moving a license to a new store/domain" below applies.

License Key doesn't work

If you enter a license key that is not valid for the domain where Magento is installed on, a red error message will be shown in the configuration stating that the license key is invalid and that the extension can't be enabled.

Already purchased a license key for this domain and it still doesn't work? Get in touch with us and tell us your order number (back from when you've purchased the extension) and what you see in the Server Name field just above the License Key field - we'll be happy to help.

Did not purchase a license key for this installation yet? Get with touch in us - we'll be happy to provide bulk discount.

Moving a license to a new store/domain

As our products are open source, license keys issued are valid for lifetime. Thus, is not possible to move a license to a new store or domain unfortunately. Once a license key has been issued, it can't be revoked, due to the open-source nature of our products. The only exception is if the old domain is shut down or redirects to the new domain permanently, AND if the new domain is related to the old store/company, i.e. you cannot move a license from "company x" to "company y", another example would be from "flower-shop.com" to "game-store.com" wouldn't be possible. Please get in touch with us if you need further licenses; you will be eligible for discounted pricing as it's not the first license you're purchasing.

Testing / Stage / Development environments

Need another license key for testing purposes? Please click here to add them to your license: License Key Management

We can only supply license keys for testing/stage/development environments clearly marked as testing environments. That is the case for example when using the subdomain "dev.storeurl.com" or "staging.storeurl.com" or "testing.storeurl.com" - we just need to clearly see that the license key will be used for a testing environment and can't ever be used as a production store. If you're not sure if your testing domain complies with our development license key policy, please contact us at [email protected].

If you want to use the extension in a subdirectory (/dev/ for example) on your already licensed domain, just re-use that license key - your license key works for the WHOLE domain and is not limited to a directory.

Upgrading from Magento 1 to Magento 2

License keys for Magento 1 and Magento 2 are different. You cannot use a Magento 1 license key for a Magento 2 extension. As Magento 2 is a completely new system, you will need to purchase a new license key on xtento.com. Go to "My Downloads" on xtento.com if you purchased the Magento 1 version already and you will get 10% discount when upgrading.

Magento extensions purchased via Magento Marketplace

In order to obtain your license keys, please send an email to [email protected] stating your Magento account ID (MAG................) as well as your name, and mention the live domain of your store (=the Magento admin URL) as well as any development domains you use. We will then provide you with your license keys. Also, let us know your Magento version (1 or 2).

Development licenses are included at no extra cost as long as they're clearly no live domains. More information regarding development license keys can be found above.

We're truly sorry we cannot send you license keys automatically as this time as Magento Marketplace does not provide us with your email address.

XTENTO Composer Repository (Magento 2 only)

XTENTO provides its extensions in a private composer repository for easy installation using composer. You will have access to all versions released before your purchase as well as all versions released within your support period. Once your support period ends, you will have access to our composer repository for 3 more months ("grace period") - afterwards, if your support period hasn't been renewed, the extension will be removed from our composer repository and you are encouraged to host the package yourself, for example in a private composer repository.

Errors you may be seeing in that situation:

To fix this, you have three options:
1) Renew your support & update period from My Downloads at xtento.com - this will instantly restore access to our composer repository.
2) Remove the module from composer and install it in app/code instead (you can contact us to get the latest version released during your support & update period)
3) Set up a private composer repository using, for example, Private Packagist, and host a composer repository yourself.
