PayPal Currency Conversion
Trying to pay your order using PayPal on xtento.com, and wonder about the higher amount PayPal wants to charge you?
As we're based in Germany, we bill in Euros. Thus, if you pay in USD/GBP or any other currency than Euros, PayPal will try to convert the Euro amount into your local currency.
However, PayPal currency rates are much worse compared to the official rates that the ECB provides. They make money by giving you a worse currency rate.
There are multiple solutions for this:
- On the PayPal "pay" page you can select to NOT use their currency conversion service, and instead have your credit card/bank do the conversion, which is much cheaper usually. The option looks like this, click that link and select to pay in Euro instead and NOT use their currency conversion service:
- Alternatively, pay using credit card / wire transfer instead, in Euros. Your bank will do the currency conversion for you, much cheaper usually.
